Rice MS FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics
Teams of students are challenged to raise funds, develop community outreach, hone teamwork skills, practice the engineer design process, and build/program robots to play a field game in an alliance format. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Currently, Rice Middle School has a First Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics club that consists of 7th and 8th graders. Teams are chosen in spring for the following competition season through a tryout process. Practices, scrimmages, and competition tournaments will consume 4-14 hours per week from September until February (possibly longer), so applicants should be prepared to make a significant time commitment.
Meeting time: Wednesdays after school from 3:50 – 5:00 pm.
Location: Room 731
Sponsor: Daniel Anaya and Jennifer York
